Trying to import forth of seven captool porfolios and I get "maximum number of investments open" and import stops at 87%
I've saved the other three porfolios and closed them
I am not showing hidden transactions
In fact with the other three porfolios closed I can't import brcause only the master porfolio shows

Hi Shields,

This indicates you have reached your limit of securities (investments). These limits are 500, 2,000, and 50,000 respectively for the Personal, Professional, and Advisor versions.

It does not matter if you are not showing hidden transactions. This limit applies to any investment that is open in any sub-portfolio.

Which version of Fund Manager are you using?
Thanks,
Mark

I have personal version
As a matter of interest I have in the porfolio in question 3365 lines in Excel each of which I guess is a transaction to FM.
I guess I could break the spreadsheet into pieces and call everything before say 2000 an archive portfolio if the 78% means what it says

Hi Shields,

Yes, each line would be a transaction. Each transaction in a unique symbol would create a new investment, which would be subject to the 500 investment limit in the Personal version.
Thanks,
Mark

You say limit of 500 OPEN transactions. Does that mean that transactions which have a buy and coresponding sell, that is are CLOSED don't count.
If Closed don't count I don't see how I reached 500.
I notice that some closed transctions which had CIL don't fully close.

Hi Shields,

The limit is on open investments, not transactions. You can have an unlimited number of transactions. By 'open' it means that the investment is included in some sub-portfolio. Even if you don't own any shares of it, it is still considered open if it is included in some sub-portfolio. You can "close" an investment, but then it will no longer be included in the historical records.

You can find out how many open investments you have by checking the properties of your top level sub-portfolio.
Thanks,
Mark

OK I've found I have over 200 open transactions in two of my porfolios.
I have at most 38 active transactions in either.
Is there a way to close all and open those I want?
It's just to much to close one at a time
Thanks for your replies

Hi Shields,

Yes, you can close multiple investments at once.

If you want to close all open investments and all open sub-portfolios, just do a "File / Close Portfolio".

If instead, you want to close specific investments, select them in the Portfolio Editor, and do an "Edit / Close". You can pick multiple investments using the standard Shift/Ctrl keys while making your selection. For example, if you wanted to close all your investments that owned 0 shares, sort the list by shares, so all your 0 share investments are adjacent in the list. Select the first one, hold Shift, and select the last one. All 0 share investments are selected, so press "Edit / Close".
Thanks,
Mark
