Cannot create a new investment

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi Mark,
I want to create a new investment but the relevant button in the menu (new investment) is grayed-out. The button "open investment" is grayed-out as well. I've restored the portfolio several times to an older version where it was possible to create new investments, but that didn't help. What shall I do to create a new investment?

Greetings Peter Petula (senior)

Hi Peter,

There is a 500 open investment limit with the Personal version. It appears you have reached this limit. You can verify by looking at the properties of your top level sub-portfolio. In the Portfolio Editor, right mouse click on the topmost sub-portfolio (probably called "Master Portfolio"), and look at the "Properties...". In the "Statistics" section, you can see how many investments it "Contains".

You can either close some investments or upgrade to the Professional version, which offers a 5,000 investment limit. To close some investments, go to the Portfolio Editor, right mouse click on the investment you want to close, and choose "Close". Closing an investment completely removes it (and its full history) from your portfolio. If you want to maintain your full performance history, you may want to consider upgrading to Professional, but if you're okay with not having the history of all the investments, you can close some to get you below the 500 investment limit.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
thank you for the fast reply. I'll close some of my old investments as you suggest.

Hi Mark,
I just want to tell you that it actually was the 500 investments limit what inhibited the creatiion of a new one.

Thanks,
Peter
