Retrieval Problems

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

I am trying to retrieve Vanguard transactions. I keep getting the error

Post HttpSendRequest
WinInet error code: 12002
Message: The operation timed out

I have unistalled and reinstalled in C:Program Files(x86)

I have a backup of the program/investments under OneDrive Folder, but didn't want to delete that data bc I have used program for 10 years, and have alot of time in those files. I am hoping that you can tell me what to do without losing my data

Thank you

Hi Bosox13,

The problem is not with your computer or Fund Manager. It is a known issue with Vanguard's OFX server not working for quite a while now. You can read more about the history of this issue in this thread:

viewtopic.php?p=27353#p27353

and there is a documented workaround for this issue here:

https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq_vanguard.php

If you want to help, you can call Vanguard and tell them how important it is to you for them to fix this issue.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I am having problems reading the downloaded transaction QFX file
into FM. None of the transactions show up.

I have been reconciling my Vanguard accounts since December by reading
in the downloaded file without problems. Just wondering if there any any
others facing this issue with the April 2025 transactions.

I will try again, but I have not touched any of the settings. I have three
different accounts and I always downloaded one account at a time and have
had no problems reading in the transactions. Now, I see a blank window for
all three accounts even though I can open the QFX file in Notepad and see
some of the transactions.

Unfortunately, one of the accounts has a rather large number of transactions
and I would be loathe to enter things by hand.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
sj

Ignore this one! I waited for some time, tried again and got all of the transactions
shown on the statement. I did not change anything!!

Perhaps it is me .... perhaps is them. After all, it was a weekend evening and there
may have been some maintenance, etc.

All set now.

Awaiting more Vangadventures, but all this is enough for me. Time to run down
the accounts and move on to other places with less grief.

Hi sj,

Glad it is working now. I hadn't heard of any issues. In the future, if this happens again, here are some things to try/check:

1) Make sure your selecting the intended file for import
2) Check the account numbers recorded properly in your sub-portfolio, as they are in the OFX file
3) Look at the import filters. Make sure you're not filtering out by date and are selecting the right account to import into
4) You can temporarily turn off the option to skip transactions already in FM, to make sure you haven't already imported them
5) Look at the OFX file in a text editor and see if it contains the expected transactions

When importing an OFX file you need the matching account number property on the sub-portfolio and the CUSIP property on your investments to match with what is in the OFX file.
Thanks,
Mark
