: Every time I sign off from FM, I get an error message: "Auto backup aborted. Investments in the backup directory are currently open." What did I do wrong and how can I correct it? Question No. 2: Can I enter messages like this off line and then transmit them to you hen I sign on?

Hi HarryH,

You should not normally be viewing/editing investments in your
autoback directory. These investments were copied into this directory
by FM's automatic backup feature. Sounds like you have some open from this
directory.

Use the "Custom" report type with the "Path" field to find which investments
you have open from this directory. Remove these from your portfolio, and
re-add them with the investment in your normal directory wherever you store
your investments. You may need to copy the investment files out of your
autoback directory if you've been making modifications to these investments
located in the autoback directory.

Yes, you could compose the message offline, and then go online to post
the question. You might even compose the message in a text editor, like
notepad, and then just cut/paste once you sign on.

Thanks,
Mark
