: I'm evaluating ver 4.7 of FM, and I'd sure like to be able to update the prices of all of the funds at one time. I've read the tips sheet but the problem is that I have four portfolios, and many of them have the same funds. Since the file name is the same as the ticker, how can I have four of the same file names in a single directory?

: Right now I have created a separate directory for each portfolio. I then have to open each one, update the prices, close it, and go on to the next one. I'm sure there's an easier way, but I haven't hit upon it yet. Any advice would be appreciated.

: I'm looking forward to the release of version 5 - I was about to mail in my check for 4.7 but if it's only a week I'll hold off, unless Mark will update my copy as a courtesy. Nice program, easy to use, but I'm still getting used to it. I would have liked to see a three or four page users guide (in addition to the tutorial which was very good) to get me up and running a bit faster, and to show me how I can get the most out of this program.

Hi Dave,
A couple comments on putting multiple same named investment in a single
portfolio. First, the "default" name of an investment is the symbol, but
you can change it to whatever you want when creating the investment, or
any time later, by just renaming the file. If you have multiple JANSX funds
you're tracking, you can have their files as JANSX1.DAT and JANSX2.DAT if you
want. If you want, you can also do as you have and put them in separate
directories and leave them as the default JANSX.DAT. In either case you
can put them all into one portfolio. Just open up all the investments
and save them to a portfolio. Investments can belong in more than one portfolio
so you can have your current 4, plus a 5th with all of your investments from
the other 4 combined.

Regarding upgrading or registering. Our policy is that anyone who
registers within 3 months of the official release will receive a free
upgrade to the Personal 5.x. Anyone registering now for 4.x receives both
a 4.x and Personal 5.x password.

Thanks for the feedback, especially on the tutorial and desired users guide.

Thanks,
Mark
