Add "subtotal by / list by" to capital gains report

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby gbenn » Mon Mar 11, 2013 12:10 pm

HI Mark,

Most reports have a settings option that allows:

Subtotal By: sub-portfolio, etc

List By: investment, etc

Can these options be added to the Capital Gains report?

When I file my tax return, I need to enter my capital gains data based on my investment type, which basically equates to how my sub-portfolios are setup. The default capital gains report has my bonds, equities, etc mixed together.

Thx

Graham

Hi Graham,

Yes, this is possible. We can consider adding it. I'm curious why you have to enter by investment type? Is this some tax regulation where you live? What country do you live in?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I'm in Canada. The tax forms are setup so that different investment types are entered in different locations on the form. The bonds go in the Bonds, debentures, promissory notes, and other similar properties section and the equities go in the Mutual fund units and other shares section. The link to the form is below.

Hi Graham,

Thanks, I see... If we added an option to sub-total by "Investment Type" would that satisfy your requirements?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Yep, I think that would work as well. That would separate my bonds from my equities.

Thx

Hi Graham,

Okay, thanks for the help. For now, you'd need to create a separate report for each group of investments types, since you have them organized into sub-portfolios.
Thanks,
Mark
