Finding Cost Basis Issues

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby allwrappedup » Sat Feb 02, 2013 7:24 pm

It there a way to determine the specific transaction(s) which cause a change in cost basis?
I had a number of cost basis issues I have been able to resolve by fixing the propagation of basis through mergers, and name changes, but there is one I can’t identify. I have attached a piece of the portfolio Cost/Value chart.

The day the issue starts (5/4/12), there we many trades. On the day it goes way (5/7/12) there were also many. I realize this is over a weekend but this still shows whether or not weekends are ignored. I have triple checked the dates associated with the transactions, but still can’t find the inconsistency. I’m sure it is something I overlooked.
Thanks for your help.

Hi allwrappedup,

Try creating an "Investment Transaction" report for this date range in question. On the Report Settings dialog, press the "Filter..." button and turn on "Include Only Portfolio External Transactions". This will show you any transactions that caused money to go in/out of the account.
Thanks,
Mark
