Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby gator27 » Fri Nov 30, 2012 11:36 pm

I am using V12 and trying to retrive transactions from my 403B from the Diversified Retirement web site. On the web site I put the desired transactions into a Quicken file and try to import in Fund Manager from my 403B portfolio but I get nothing.
I thought this would work. Am I doing something wrong.
Please help,
Thank You

Hi gator27,

Quicken has 2 different file formats. Do you know which format you're downloading? There is the *.QFX format, and the *.QIF format. In Fund Manager, under "File / Import / Transactions" there are 2 different import commands:

"Quicken (*.QIF)"
"Open Financial Exchange (*.OFX, *.QFX)"

one for each format. So, make sure you're using the right import command for your file.

Also, when importing, make sure you leave on the option to "Create New Investments as Needed".

If neither of these suggestions help, you can open up your file in a text editor, like Notepad, and verify that your transaction data is in the file. Both of these file formats are text files that you can view in any text editor.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
I tried your suggestions and still no transactions in fund manager. The Quicken file is an OFX file and I could import the transactions into Quicken from it. What else can I try?
Thanks

Hi gator27,

Please try this:

- Make sure you are using "File / Import / Transactions / Open Financial Exchange".
- Choose "All Accounts"
- Choose "All Dates"
- Choose "With Matching Account Number as OFX Account" and turn ON "Create New Sub-Portfolios as Needed"
- Turn OFF the option to "Skip transactions already in Fund Manager"
- Turn ON the option to "Create New Investments as Needed"

These settings should show any transactions in the OFX file. At the Preview screen, assuming you see the transactions, go "Back" and turn ON the option to "Skip transactions already in Fund Manager". Press "Next" again. If you do not see the transactions this 2nd time, then those transactions have already been imported.
Thanks,
Mark
