Hi Mark,

Hi Daryl,
I just tested this, and it seems to be working. Fund Manager retrieved this quote okay. Where are you checking the quote in Fund Manager? Please use the Data Register with the "Prices" data type, and make sure you are sorting by date, so the latest price is on top. I tested this with quote module 401.
Hi Daryl,
Did you double check your recorded symbol? Please make sure it doesn't have any spaces, and is spelled correctly. Do all of your quotes fail, or just one? Have they worked before? What quote module are you using? Please try retrieving the symbol "OZL" from ASX using quote module 401. This is one I've tested this morning, and have verified is working.
Mark,
All my symbols are specified thus "OZL.AX" because up til now I've been using the Yahoo and Google servers. This doesn't work on Australian Stock Exchange server, you have to strip off the extension. OZL works just fine. Thanks for your prompt help. Cheers, Daryl
Hi Daryl,
Ah, yes, that would do it. Glad you figured it out.
Mark,
There is a problem with this. Shortening the symbol to just OZL instead of OZL.AX breaks other functions that rely on the <symb> global variable such as Web news. I'm probably not going to use the Australian Stock Exchange server except if the other servers are down because I would have to edit the symbol to make it work each time. So I guess this will affect any other quote servers that require a different syntax from the standard ones? I'm happy to accept that USA symbols will not have any extension, whereas other countries exchanges will- is there any way to standardize this so we can change quote servers without having to edit all the symbols? Thanks, Daryl
Hi Daryl,
The symbols are set by the quote servers, so you do need to record the symbol in Fund Manager as it is on the quote server you're using. Unfortunately, not all quote servers use the exact same symbols for the same security. The symbol is mostly only used for retrieving prices, but as you mentioned it is also used for the web news feature. You can also customize the web news URL, if you don't want to use the default Yahoo one. See "Options / General Preferences... / Menu / Web News URL...". Press "Help" here for some instructions.
