Data Register Issue

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby klvassalotti » Mon Apr 01, 2013 5:03 pm

Hi, Mark. I noticed that the window in the data register that is suppose to show all transactions - Data Type is Transactions (all) - does not show dividends that were not reinvested. I'm still using version 11.9.

Hi Keith,

In version 11 the "Transactions (all)" data type only showed transactions that affected the share balance, like buys, sells, transfers, and reinvestments. In version 12, the Data Register was improved, and there is a new "All Transactions" data type that shows all transactions, including distributed distributions. In version 11 you can switch to "Distributions (all)" to see the distributions, but there was no way to view distributed distributions and buys/sells in the same data type. This is no longer a limitation in version 12.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi,

I open the Data Register and want to distribute dividends for a particular investment (say a stock called AccessBank) across all the sub-portfolios in a master portfolio at once.

After selecting the sub-portfolio: Master Portfolio, I notice that under Investment field there are multiple AccessBank investments representing the stock in each sub-portfolio.

Is there a way to distribute dividends to all sub-portfolios in the master portfolio with occurrence of AccessBank investment at once? That is, only one AccessBank investment shows up in the Investment field when the master portfolio is selected.

Hi Segunmichael,

You can't do this. You have to record specific transactions, as they happened in each account.
Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark,

How can I distribute dividends for a stock in many sub-portfolios.

I am trying to avoid having to manually allot dividends to about 100 sub-portfolios with occurence of a stock that just paid dividend.

Please help.

Thanks
Segunmichael

Hi Segunmichael,

There is no manual entry to automate something like this. Usually if you have many accounts, you can import transactions from your broker, where they've broken them down into account specific transactions already for you. Are you importing transactions, or are you manually entering everything?
Thanks,
Mark

Hello,

I have to manually enter the dividends.

Hi Segunmichael,

If you have 100 accounts to manually enter you might consider using the generic import. You can set up a CSV file with all the transactions for each account, and then import it. It may be easier than manually entering. See "File / Import / Transactions / Generic..." and press "Help..." for instructions.
Thanks,
Mark
