Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby oscarhobson » Fri Jun 06, 2014 6:00 pm

I had 392.893 shares in Rayonier Inc. They split 3 for 2. Fund Manager is now showing I have 589.339 shares, but my brokerage is showing 589.34 shares. I have decimal places for share digits set to 3. It looks like the math goes as follows:

Starting shares = 392.893
/ 2 = 196.4465
* 3 = 589.3395

which the brokerage rounded to 589.34.

Is Fund manager truncating and not rounding? Is there a way I can get it to round?

Thanks,

Oscar Hobson

Hi Oscar,

Fund Manager doesn't round your share balance. You might want to turn up your share digits to the max of 6, so you can be sure how many shares you have exactly. If you want it to round to match your broker, record the split with a ratio of <new_shares> for <old_shares>. In your case, it sounds like this would be:

589.34 for 392.893

instead of 3 for 2.
Thanks,
Mark
