Price error on one stock...

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Gillyches » Fri Jun 20, 2025 9:30 am

Hello,

I'm based in the UK and for the past few days I've noticed that one stock BAE (BA.) is not downloading the correct price at the end of the day's trading. I always give time for the prices to 'settle down' by downloading about 45 mins later - but there's still this error on the one share in my portfolio.

Today in the UK the closing price is £18-98 but my Fund Manager list is showing at as £19-06. I wondering if there's anything I can do to correct it? (I also run an old AceMoney program and it's showing the correct price.)

On Morning Star the price is £18-98 and also on the FT - Yahoo is different.

Kind regards,

Gill

Hi Gill,

If you go look on Yahoo with your web browser when you retrieve with FM, does Yahoo show the same price on their website as FM is retrieving?

I just test retrieved the symbol BA.L from Yahoo - UK and it retrieved 19.06 for June 20, which is the same as Yahoo is showing on their site right now. So, it seems like FM is retrieving the same price Yahoo is reporting. Is this true for you too? Maybe Yahoo is showing the wrong price?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Thanks for responding. It turns out that there is more than one share showing a different price.

I normally end the day updating prices and matching the total with my online share buying portal, interactive investor. Generally, the prices on that website and both of the share software programs show the same final prices - but for the past few days they haven't.

The AceMoney program uses the Financial Times whilst Fund Manager uses the Yahoo-UK site... so I'm beginning to think that maybe the latter may not be showing the correct prices.

One always assumes that these sites are correct - and yet the differences in final prices is a little odd, especially as it's only started happening within the last few days.

I'll keep my eye on it and see if it rectifies the problem.

Cheerio for now,
Gill

Hi Gill,

Hopefully Yahoo clears up any pricing issues, but if not, you can also use Financial Times with Fund Manager. See the servers "Financial Times - Equities" and "Financial Times - Funds (1M Historical)". More info is available here:

and if you need instructions on how to change quote servers, see our Retrieving Prices Tutorial.
Thanks,
Mark
