Cannot download historic currency data

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby pg888 » Sat Aug 08, 2009 1:00 am

I am trying to set up a new currency conversion investment to enable me to report my £ portfolios in $.

I am using symbol GBPUSD=X, which is recognised by Yahoo when I go there with my browser. I am using the default historic server. I have tried other servers too. And various different date ranges. But when I try to download historic prices it has a number of attempts but then says "Could not update any investments". It will update all of my share symbols' historic data, and will also update the current date for the currency symbol. I have read all of the help on this and I seem to be setting it up ok. Can you help?

Hi pg888,

Yahoo doesn't have 'historical' quotes for exchange rates, only current ones. You can use Yahoo going forward to update your exchange rate investment, but for historical quotes you'll need to import those from another source. They are available from OANDA. Please read:
