Ameritrade Transaction Retrieve stopped working

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby RickABQ » Wed Jul 01, 2009 8:57 am

I've been retrieving transactions into FundManager Personal (v. 8.8, transaction module 132) from TD Ameritrade for several years. This abruptly broke recently. I can still login at ofx.ameritrade.com but FundManager reports "Signon invalid Signon invalid" followed by "Failed to retrieve portfolio" with my signon information.

I don't know if this is a change in FundManager or at TD Ameritrade. Any idea what's going on here?

My last successful retrieve was 4/1 or 4/2/2009. I don't know when I next tried and found it broken -- perhaps 4-6 weeks later at a guess.

Thanks for any help.

Hi RickABQ,

There are actually 3 related servers for TD Ameritrade:

Ameritrade (legacy)
TD Ameritrade
TD Waterhouse (legacy)

Which one are you using? You probably need to be using "TD Ameritrade". If the server is reporting "Signon Invalid" then for some reason your username/password are not being accepted. You would need to contact TD about this. You'll want to make sure your accounts are set up on their OFX server and enabled for retrieving.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the reply. I got it worked out with TD Ameritrade's tech support. Here's a detailed explanation in case anyone else struggles with this.

Previously, my older (legacy) Ameritrade accounts were accessed from Fund Manager using a separate user ID and password created at ofx.ameritrade.com. I had Fund Manager access these using "Ameritrade (legacy)". As of 2 or 3 months ago, TD Ameritrade eliminated this system, though confusingly, there's no way you can tell that from the ofx.ameritrade.com site, which is still functioning and still recognizes my old user ID and password.

Now, these accounts are accessed from Fund Manager by putting my TD Ameritrade account number in both the "User ID" and the "Account Number" fields, the 4-digit PIN in the "Password" field, and using "TD Ameritrade" instead of "Ameritrade (legacy)".

So all is well.
