Dividend Yield

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Does Fund Manager have a way to correctly report annual dividend yields for newly purchased securities, where there is not any dividend transactions generated yet? Let's say you generate a quarterly performance report, and you want to see the annual dividend yields of your securities, where the yield is determined by using the previous 12 month distributions.

Hi clay c,

Yes, use the custom report field "Expected Dividend Yield (ending)". You will need to record at least one of the dividends paid. You can record it for a value of $0 since you owned no shares on that date, and then FM will prompt you for a per-share amount. It will use this per-share amount and the current closing price to calculate an annualized dividend yield. If you only record 1 dividend, FM assumes they are paid quarterly. If this isn't the case, then you need to record more than 1, so FM can figure out the frequency of the dividend payments.
Thanks,
Mark
