Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby senior » Tue Nov 25, 2014 9:16 am

Hi Mark,
after a bad system failure I'm putting together the pieces. One of the things that I still miss is a custom report that I've used for many years. The only stored information that I have is the complete folder "My_data" from before the failure. Can I recreate my lost report from this Folder?

Greetings,

Hi Peter,

If your data files are all in there, then you can re-open them. Hopefully you have a portfolio file (*.mm4) in there. Install Fund Manager, and then from within Fund Manager choose "File / Open Portfolio..." and try opening up your portfolio file.

If you don't have a portfolio file, you can open the investments (*.dat) directly using "File / Open Investment(s)...", and then you would need to re-organize them into any sub-portfolios you may want to use.

Your preferences, such as memorized reports are stored in the registry, or any *.FMB backups you may have. If you don't have a *.FMB backup to restore from, then you will not get back your preferences.
Thanks,
Mark
