Hi Mark,
I have the personal edition. Is there a way to get the current OOP basis per share NOT including the contribution of dividends? I use this figure to help determine stops.
Thanks,
Ivan

OPP basis per share without dividends

Hi Ivan,
If you don't want to include any distributions in the basis, use the tax basis fields. If you want to include all distribution types except dividends, there is no built-in field for this. In the higher level versions (Professional/Advisor) you could write an equation to calculate the OOP basis, and add back in the dividend distributions. Otherwise you could just include both on a report in the Personal version.
Hi again Mark,
Tax basis per share Assigned has appeared to work properly up to now, ignoring dividends in the calculation. But I just ran into one investment where the latest dividend does change that cost basis value. I can't see where that investment or dividend is different. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ivan
Hi Ivan,
Is it really a "dividend" type of distribution? Was it reinvested? If a dividend is reinvested, that will affect your cost basis. If it wasn't reinvested, a dividend should not affect your tax cost basis. If you record it as an "account fee" or "return of capital" type of distribution, those can affect your cost basis.
