How to generate a report showing accrued interest

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby Segunmichael » Fri Jan 18, 2013 1:44 am

I am new to Fund Manager and need to generate a report that can reflect accrued interest on a daily basis for bond investment. The bond investment is structured such that the interest is at maturity but i need the daily accruals.

Please how do i also enter the accrued interest at maturity so that the portfolio value will reflect the interest paid? The help menu could not help me with the step by step approach which is what i need.

Hi Segunmichael,

For your bonds, look at the "Investment Properties... / Income" tab, and set the income properties for your bond. You enter things like coupon rate and maturity date. Fund Manager will calculate the accrued interest for you. For bonds they need to be recorded where the shares are 1/100th the face value. You can read more about this in the documentation:

http://fundmanagersoftware.com/help/bond_tips.html

and

http://fundmanagersoftware.com/help/dlg ... ncome.html

To get the accrued interest as of any day, you can use the Custom Report with the "Accrued Interest (ending)" field or look at a "Bond Summary" report.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your replies. They worked.

Please is there a custom field that will allow me to generate the value of a non-trading bond by simply adding the value i bought it to the accrued interest. Better still can i just geneate the column field.

For example, I enter money market tenored deposit instruments as bonds with interest payment at maturity. Thus, FM's bond summary report computes the daily accrued interest and also shows the expected interest payment at maturity. What I now need is a column field that adds the face value to the accrued interest so as to arrive at the current value of the investment. Can I generate this please?

Thanks.

Hi Segunmichael,

You can get the ending value plus any accrued interest in a "Portfolio Performance" report. Make sure "Options / Report Preferences... / Portfolio Performance / Use Accrued Interest" is turned on.

Unfortunately, there is no built-in field in the Custom report to get this (we should try to add this). If you're using the Professional or Advisor version, you can define a field with the equation:

Accrued_interest_end + End_value

to generate this field.
Thanks,
Mark
