Release 12 - Memorized Reports

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby Allan » Fri Nov 30, 2012 9:22 pm

I just installed release 12 professional
I have found that when I create a new report, and then memorize it, the memorized version will not launch. I have tried a couple of preliminary trials with Custom Reports template, with same result.

I have not done any comprehensive testing of other templates, but was wondering if this may have been raised as a bug report.

Thanks
Allan

Hi Allan,

Yes, I suspect this is due to a known bug introduced in 12.0, that will be fixed in 12.1. The issue happens if you memorize a report while using the DD/MM/YY date format. Please change your date format to MM/DD/YY under "Options / General Preferences..." and then memorize your report. Once your report is memorized you can change the date format back, and the memorized report should continue to work. The work-around is that you must have the date format assigned as MM/DD/YY while memorizing the report, but you can recall it using either date format.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I use the DD/MM/YY date format too.

With 12.0, I've changed a setting in my custom reports and saved them. Cant' open them anymore. I've upgraded to 12.1, but can't open them neither. I've tried to change to the MM/DD/YY format too, that didn't work.

Any tricks for recovery, or do I have to recreate them ?

Thanks.

Hi Djobydjoba,

If you memorized the report with 12.0 while your global date setting preference was set to DD/MM/YY, then you can't open those memorized reports with any version. You can re-create them, and re-memorize them, replacing your old memorized report. In 12.1 this bug was fixed, so you can have your date format in any setting you want, but you still can't open memorized reports saved in 12.0 with the DD/MM/YY format.

If re-creating your reports is rather difficult you could edit the registry to fix the bug. The problem was all the dates were saved in a DD/MM/YY format, but Fund Manager requires them in the MM/DD/YY format in the registry. You could use "regedit", and go here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Beiley Software\Fund Manager\CurrentVersion\SETTINGS MEMRPT<#>

You will see a different key for each memorized report. If you look at the values in those keys you will see 14 date values:

START
END
edmp<0-5>
sdmp<0-5>

All of them need to be changed to the MM/DD/YYYY format. Once you do that, you should be able to open them in Fund Manager.
Thanks,
Mark
