average currency rate

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby gbfabiani » Fri Sep 07, 2012 9:15 am

I have some sub-portfolios where stocks are in a foreign currency. I can easily get the portfolio performance either in the foreign currency or in the main one just using "exchange rate adjusted" . What I would like to get also is the average rate I purchased these same stocks . This way I would have a clear picture about the original average currency rate I paid to build a portfolio, and comparing it with current rate I can immediately feel the effect of the currencies on this portfolio.
thanks
giovanni

Hi giovanni,

You can't get this average exchange rate directly, but you could run a report showing your cost basis, and then compare the cost basis in the native currency and the exchange rate adjusted default currency. The average rate can be determined by dividing these two numbers.
Thanks,
Mark
