Portfolio Value Report sub-totals per investment type

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby rojeg » Thu Aug 18, 2011 11:23 am

Hi Mark

How can I create a customs (value) report in a portfolio that sub-totals by assets or investment type like for instance:

- Cash USD xyz
- Cash GBP sab

Total Cash

- Stock 1
- Stock 2

Total Stocks

- Bond 1
- Bond 2

- Total Bonds

Grand Total

This is a format I see now frequently from banks and brokers and my client would like to see a similar format.

Thanks for your help!

Best

Hi rojeg,

In your "Report Settings" dialog, choose:

Subtotal By: ON, and select "Investment Type"
List By: Investment
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark

One more thing: within stccks in the previous example I need to sub-total Regions

-stock 1
-stock 2
Stocks Europe

Etc.

How would you approach this best (preferably without creating sub-portfolios).

Thanks for your advice.

Best

Hi Rojeg,

You can only subtotal by 1 item at a time. If you wanted to use the "Asset Type" category to define regions for your holdings you could then subtotal by asset type, and still list by investment. You wouldn't be able to subtotal by both investment type and asset type at the same time though.

To use the asset type categories, set the names you want under 'Option / Category Labels...' and then for each investment under the "Investment Properties... / Asset Type" dialog, select which asset type it belongs to.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the "work-around".

Maybe other forum members have additional ideas for sorting investments per type AND per a second criterion, like regions (US, Europe, etc.) or Industries/Sectors. Any tip would be welcome.

Best regards,
