collateral value

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Is it possible to add a "collateral value" field for borrowing purposes? For example, a bank may lend based on cash- 95%, certain shares - 70%, gold - 80%, etc....

Being able to total this up would be helpful.

Hi manageruser,

Sorry, no. It would be a nice idea though to add some user-definable fields like this. We can consider this for a future version.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

You seem to have user definable fields now. Is it now possible to do something aout collateral values? Would be helpful.

Thanks very much.

Hi manageruser,

You can do this by utilizing Custom investment properties. You can define one of these 10 Custom properties for your collateral value. It would be a number type. You could either use this to record the percentage of market value to be used as collateral value, or the actual collateral value itself. Recording the percentage would be better, so the collateral value can be updated automatically. If you record it as a percentage, you would use "Weighted Average" as the combination method. When recording it as a percentage, to get the actual collateral value, you would multiply the market value times this Custom investment property you've defined. To do this, define a user-defined Custom Report field (Pro and Advisor versions only) with an equation like:

CollateralRatio*End_value/100

For a similar situation, we have documented how you can do this with expense ratios. It would be very similar to do with collateral ratio/value. See:

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark. I'll need to buy the professional version, then I will try it. I appreciate it.
