Investment transaction report title

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby Beagle47 » Fri Dec 03, 2010 5:24 pm

Hi Mark

Many (maybe most) of the pre-formatted reports have the portfolio or sub-portfolio included in the title. The Investment Transactions report does not - its in the blue border but that doesn't print.

Rather than design a custom report - I'm otherwise very happy with the standard one - is there any way to modify this report to include the portfolio name? Or a quick way to use the standard report as a template for a (slightly) modified custom report?

Thanks ............ Alan

Hi Alan,

If you have on the option in this report: "Investments: All in Sub-Portfolio", then your sub-portfolio should be in the report header. It should be at the beginning of the 2nd line in the header, right below the report title. If you are using the Advisor version you may have customized the report header, so it isn't showing anymore. If so, go to "Options / Report Headers...", and you can reset the headers for this report type.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, please let me know what report settings you are using, and what your title/header text does say.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark

There is no difference if I select "Investments: All in Sub-Portfolio" or an individual stock (or cash). I haven't selected filtering.

The first line of the report shows "Investment Transactions".
The 2nd line shows (blank space), first date - second date. Note: the comma suggests there is a previous field but what text is there is centered without taking an empty field into account.

The sub-portfolio name is shown in the blue window border.

Hi Mark

Problem solved but I'm not sure how. I have just in the last few days migrated to a new PC so I suspect that's the key.

My problems running the report were just after moving everything. I just looked again and all is good. I did update data this morning. I'm not sure if I had done that before on the new PC.

In any event, all is now fine. Sorry for wasting your time.

Regards ......... Alan

Hi Mark

I've worked it out. For the Investment Transactions report, line 2 of the header shows the 'investment', not the sub-portfolio. If I select just one investment it shows in the header. If I select the whole sub-portfolio, that part of the header is blank because there is not a single 'investment' selected.

This takes me back to my original request. Is it possible either to amend the standard report to include the sub-portfolio (preferably the next level up as well) or to use the standard report as a template to create a custom report.

Regards .............. Alan

Hi Alan,

I think I may know the source of the confusion... If you turn on the report option to show transactions for all investments in the reported on sub-portfolio, then the 2nd line in the title will show whatever you choose for the "Account Description" under "Options / Report Preferences... / Investment Transactions". Notice, you can set it to display "Sub-Portfolio", "Account #", or "Do Not Display". Try setting it back to "Sub-Portfolio", and I believe you will get what you're looking for.
Thanks,
Mark
