Hi Ton,

Sure. The %Gain-C is your Out Of Pocket (OOP) percentage gain on only the shares you still currently own as of the ending report date. This is a good figure to use if you want to know where you stand on only the shares you still own. This differs from other %Gain fields that are for a certain time period, or since the inception of your investment, no matter whether you own the shares or not. Stated another way, the %Gain-C is only your unrealized OOP %gain, where the other %Gain figures factor in realized gains/losses.

Here's an example:

Buy 100 shares for $1000 on 1/1/10
Sell 50 shares for $600 on 2/1/10

The %Gain-C gives you the difference between the market value and your cost of just those 50 remaining shares. If the market value of those 50 shares on 3/1/2010 was $700, then your %Gain-C would be $200 / $500 = 40%, since the OOP basis of those 50 shares was $500.

If you compare this to a %Gain (inception), the %Gain (inception) figures your gain over the whole life of the investment, so it would be $300 / $400 = 75%, since the OOP basis over the life of the investment is $400 ($1000 - $600).

In one case, you're only looking at the remaining shares, ignoring any prior realized gains/losses. In the other case, you're looking at the whole time period you owned this investment, which factors in all your realized gains/losses.

There is also a %Gain (between), which looks just between any 2 given dates, including realized gains/losses between these dates, but not before.
Thanks,
Mark
