Inv_incptn returning wrong data

I tried to create a custom report with a user defined field. I wanted to use the system defined field --> Inv_incptn, description: Date of first transaction, exactly what I wanted to use!!

Using inv_incptn in an equation (for test purposes, I used only inv_incptn in the equation) it DOES NOT RETURN a date. In fact it returns a number, but I dont know what number it is returning.

Am I missunderstanding this field?

Hi abruehl,

The user-defined fields only generate numbers, not dates. You can use dates in functions, or to evaluation, but all the date fields evaluate to a number of days since Jan 1, 0. See the bottom of this page where it says "Notes:" for more explanation:

If you want to know the investment inception date, use the built-in field in your report, rather than defining a user-defined equation. You can use the investment inception date in a function that takes a date, but if you just want to see that actual date in a report, use the built-in field.
