Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

I have been unable to create a portfolio level IRR report. So say that my portfolio tracking began in October, I just want to know how much $10 of investment in my overall portfolio is worth today and ideally a chart.
Also, I would love to be able to juxtapose this vs say SPY.
I am sure this has been asked before but I could not find it. So simply pointing me to what has been done before will be very helpful. Then I will work on it.
Many thanks!

Hi shalam, In Fund Manager we calculate 2 types of yields: ROI and TWR. The ROI is your return on your invested money. It is time and money weighted. This is also sometimes called IRR. To get an ROI yield you can find this in many places in the program. One place would be in the "Portfolio Performance" report under the "Yield" column. So, just create a Portfolio Performance report for the period you're interested in, and you will see your yield. To get a graphical representation of your performance, and to overlay it with an index, use one of the "Portfolio/Investment(s) Overlay" graph types. Select one of these graph types from the top level "Graphs" menu. To overlay an index you must first create the investment as an investment and retrieve historical prices for it. It is common to put all your indices into their own sub-portfolio, separate from your holdings. Once you have the index investment, select it to be overlaid on this graph using "Graph / Options / Overlaid Investments...". Mark, thank you for the quick reply.
I have already tried yield report. I will also try the Portfolio vs SPY approach you suggested below.
With some effort I hope I can learn the software and then can track my investing activities without too much effort.

I tried this report. One question: can I change this report to a format where I can start the beginning figure at an index of say 100 or 10? currently it starts with the portfolio value.

Hi shalam,
There are 2 versions of the Portfolio/Investment(s) Overlay graph, the "Value" version and the "Price + DIstributions" version. If you use the "Value" version, it will be referenced off the portfolio value you are overlaying. If you use the "Price + Distribution" version however, it will start at a reference point of 100. The first plotted point includes gains/losses on the starting graph date, so won't be exactly at 100.

The price+distrib version sounds quite good. Tested it. Works!
Is it possible to download that data in any form? Is it possible to have the overlay and the portfolio start at 100? That would be what I am looking for.
Thank you!

Hi shalam, Sorry, that data is not exportable. Maybe in a future update... Both the portfolio and any overlaid investments do start at 100, but the first plotted point includes gains/losses on the starting graph date, so the first plotted point is not 100. For more details on this graph, see the graph's documentation: http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/help ... tovly.html
