Auto-size Column Problem

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby Ivan » Tue Sep 27, 2011 4:44 pm

Hi Mark,

I have Auto-size Columns When Report Data Changes set in the Report Preferences dialog. I have a custom report similar the the Performance Report. It comes up correctly, but if I click on a line to see detail and then go back to the original report window, it has lost the column width settings and several columns have become too narrow. I then have to fix it by going to the Window menu and auto sizing the columns again. Is this expected behavior or a fixable bug?

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

Could you possibly have the same report open multiple times? See the top level "Window" menu to view all your open reports. What can happen is if you have multiple reports of the same kind open, the column sizes can be set by one of the other open reports, and maybe not the one you're viewing.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Yes, but not intentionally. It is a multiline report listed by symbol. When I click on a line, it brings up the same report, but with just that line (or more than one line if the symbol is in more than one subportfolio). That is clearly what is narrowing the column widths. It would be nice if you could make the two copies of the report each set their own column widths, but if not this is certainly not a major issue.

Hi Ivan,

Yes, that makes sense, and would explain it. I agree it would be better to make the column widths stored on a per-report basis.
Thanks,
Mark
