Yield on Cost (YOC) Report

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby twj332 » Sat Oct 02, 2010 8:02 pm

I wish to track Yield On Cost (YOC) for my div/income investments
calculated as the current annual dividend divided by my original cost or avg cost

The purpose is to see my yield today based on the actual or original cost of my investment.

Is there some way to have this created in report?

I would appreciate any suggestions
Thanks
Terry

Hi Terry,

We do not have this exact calculation today. You could create a custom report, with "Projected Annual Income", and whichever cost field you wish to use. You can then export this report to a CSV file using "File / Export to CSV..." and do the division in a spreadsheet after exporting.

For Fund Manager 11 we plan to add the ability to define your own fields, which includes the ability to write your own equations, based off existing fields, and a variety of functions.
Thanks,
Mark

Last year, you had indicated that "...the ability to define your own fields, which includes the ability to write your own equations, based off existing fields... " would be available in v11x. Were you able to implement this change?

Like Terry, I'm hoping to develop a report that would provide Yield on Cost as well as Yield on Current value to identify yields on beginning investment as well as identifying an opportunity cost of maintaining a position in a stock that has gained in value but whose dividend yield has not kept up with the price.

Thanks!

Hi ssherbin,

Yes, this feature is available in the 11.x Professional and Advisor versions. On the Custom Report Settings dialog, press the "Define Fields..." button to create your own field. Press the "Help" button in this dialog for instructions.
Thanks,
Mark
