Investment Stack.

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby aviator » Sat Apr 23, 2011 6:24 am

Hi Mark,

I searched the help text, both online and within Fund Manager, and couldn't find anything on the Investment Stack.

What exactly is the Investment Stack and how is it different from Investment sorting which is also available from the Sort Ment? I've noticed most non-custom reports default to being sorted by Investment Stack, is there a way to universally change this to sort by something else?

Thanks,
aviator

Hi aviator,

Here is the documentation on the "Investment Stack":

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/help/invstack.html

Basically, every open investment is in a certain order, which is called the investment stack order. You can order these investments in any particular order you may like. You can manually re-order the investment stack, or you can sort it by a variety of items, like name, value, etc.

In the reports, they default to listing by the stack order. The other sort option to sort by "Investment" is sorting alphabetically by the investment's name, as opposed to this ordered stack.

Yes, if you memorize a report, or save it as part of your portfolio the sort preference is memorized/recalled as well. There is no global option though to change the initial new report sort preference.
Thanks,
Mark
