Defining Fields beta 11

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby Gary T. » Mon Mar 28, 2011 12:35 pm

Mark,
I have defined 2 new fields for a custom report that each passes the formula validation criteria and provide correct results. Now what I want to do is use the new fields (and underlying equation) in the creation of a new field. Get an invalid equation info window. Is this the expected response?

Hi Gary,

Yes, sorry. You cannot use a defined field in another equation. You would have to replicate the contents of the first defined field into the equation of your 2nd defined field.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
Defined the following as a custom field:

IF((Purchased_shares == 100),1,2)

Passes validation, however the result displayed on the report is blank?

Should it not be either a 1 or a 2?

Thanks

Hi Gary,

Thanks for pointing out this problem. The parenthesis around the comparison parameter was not being handled by Fund Manager. This has been fixed in Beta 6, which you can download now from here:

Please let me know if this doesn't fix the problem for you.
Thanks,
Mark
