Mark,

I'm trying to make a report that looks just like the Open Lots Report but has an additonal column which shows the Tax Basis (FIFO).

But I can't see how to add a column to an existing report. So I tried to create a custom report that looks like Open Lots and has the additonal column. But I can't find the fields in the Custom report options that correspond with fields in Open Lots report; for instance can't find a field called "Open Date"

Help what am I doing wrong?

Hi Brookwood,

You won't be able to do this. The Open Lots report has a line item for each open lot (transaction that hasn't been closed). So, if you bought an investment 5 times, you'll have 5 line items, and information relative to each purchase.

The Custom report cannot list by open lot, it lists by Investment, Symbol, Asset Type, Investment Goal, or Investment Type, but not by open lot. In the Custom report, you could list by Investment, and get one line item, that includes all open lots combined for that investment.

There are options to customize which columns are shown in the Open Lots report. See "Options / Report Preferences... / Open Lots". Tax basis is not one of them, although the "Open Value" is usually the same as the tax basis, unless there have been wash sales, account fees, or returns of capital.
