Aloha Mark,
Ok last post today. I am trying to fully comprehend the various components in FundManager and how they interrelate so that I can pull the desired management information. Right now I am trying to correlate asset allocation and investment goal information.
My top level sub-portfolio editor hierarchy is essentially by Investment Goal. I am not sure if this is the best configuration for me but after readying the posts and playing with software, it seemed like a good starting point.
High Risk
Low Risk
Retirement
College
The accounts I have neatly fall within these categories so I assigned the desired investment goal of 100% to each investment. Running an asset allocation report or graph is each sub-portfolio provides me the desired information.
I now want to use some of the accounts and investments for multiple investment goals. (i.e specifically for (1) mutual funds closed to new inventors and (2) funds available at one brokerage house and not another.) My logic begins to breakdown. I see how I can adjust the investment goal by reallocating the 100% (i.e. double the amount in the fund and set the goal as 50% retirement, 35% high risk and 15% low risk) How can I then get the asset allocation report for the investment goal.
I am open to suggestions?
(So after presenting the problem, a powerful solution would be the ability to filter graphs and reports by investment goal at any place within the portfolio tree/hierarchy. Having an IT background, I know that "simple" request from a UI perspective can be less than straightforward on the backend.)
Thanks again for a great product. Hands down it is the best one available for individual investors.
