prints from 2014 version

Hi Mark, I occasionally print reports in pdf form .

When I use Parallels on my Macbook I define as a printer "pdf on mac" .
On the new version if a report is wider than the page can accept , the system offers the option to adapt automatically the print ( very useful!) . However in these situations the pdf file become very large ( one page 220MB versus a page with no "compression" 67KB) .

I tryied a different report on windows , uising both 2013 and 2014 versions, 11 pages print and a driver to exit with PDF : situation is better, but still I have >1MB per page .

I imagine because of the mac/parallel issue it is not something important, nevertheless if you could give a look on the way the page is compressed.....

Hi giovanni,

This could be expected, although I'm surprised somewhat by the size of the file you're reporting. When you use the "scaling" feature FM prints in a slightly different manner, that could cause PDF printers to create larger files, as they are image based instead of vector based. I did a test here, and got a 32KB non-scaled PDF, and a 1.1MB scaled PDF. Your 220MB sounds quite large... My test was done with PrimoPDF.

If the size of the file is an issue, you might try either a different PDF printer/driver, or turn off the "scaling" feature. Of course if you turn off the scaling feature you would need to make sure you use a small enough font for the report to fit on a page.
