The Open Lots report lists by lot (transaction), where the Custom report lists by investment (among other things, but not transaction). So, for example if you have an investment that you've bought on two different occasions, the Open Lot report will have 2 lines, one for each time you purchased it. The Custom report listed by investment will only have a single line summarizing the whole investment, which would include both purchase transactions. There are fields to get the equivalent numbers, but they will consolidate all purchases together. For instance, see the 2 fields:
Date acquired, end (ending)
Date acquired, start (ending)
These two fields will show you the beginning and ending dates of all your purchases for all open lots in that investment as of the ending report date. There are other equivalent fields for shares/price, like:
Average out of pocket purchase price (current)
Tax basis per share (assigned)
OOP basis per share (current)
Shares (ending)
