A report delivering the total cost of holdings?

In Canada, if an individual held foreign assets that at any time of year had a total cost of more than $100K, then that individual has to fill out a form declaring those assets.

I'm having trouble generating a report that would give me this data for 2013 in FM 10.x. Does anyone still run 10x.?

I guess what I'm looking for here is a book value. I need to see positions that were held at any time during the year and I need to see the total cost of those positions, including those that may now be entirely or partially liquidated.

Any way FM can deliver that?

Hi inept,

You could get a rough idea with the "Portfolio Cost - Value" graph. This plots your "Out Of Pocket (OOP)" cost versus time, and the market value. The OOP cost is not exactly the same as tax cost basis, in that received distributions lower your OOP basis, but not your tax basis. This graph also works in both "Historical" and "Current" cost mode. It sounds like you would be more interested in the "Current" cost. You control this with "Graphs / Options / Historical Cost". I would suggest reading "Help / Help on Graph" for an explanation of this graph.

If you want an exact tax cost basis as of any particular date, run a Custom report, and use the "Tax basis, Assigned Method" field, and set the report end date to the date you want to analyze.
