Tax basis problem

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

I imported my data from captool. Most of the information is correct, however the cost basis is incorrect on about half of the investments. How do I go about finding the problems and then correcting them. It looks like the number of shares and all of the transaction cost and values are correct.

Hi John S,

Your tax cost basis is determined by your recorded transactions, and assigned accounting method (FIFO, AVG, or Specific Lot). I would verify the correct accounting method is being used, and then look at your recorded transactions. If you have many transactions within an investment, you might break up the debugging by looking at intermediate dates. Start from near the beginning, and work forward, until you find whatever is wrong.
Thanks,
Mark
