Unable to find portfolio

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby ddnut » Thu Jan 16, 2014 7:31 am

I manually entered a sample portfolio using tranaction reports from my brokerage yesterday but today I could not find the portfolio. I was looking for the files and found the .DAT files and the transactions appear to be OK.

In the process I opened one of the .MM4 files in the sample folders so my Master Portfolio now shows those subportfolios. When I open the Investment files I created, they get brought into the current Master Portfolio (samples).

It is not too much data and I can start over but I don't know what happened or how to fix it.

Hi Duncan,

It sounds like you maybe didn't save your portfolio file? Try this:

1) "File / Close Portfolio" to close everything open.

2) "File / Open Investment(s)..." and open the investment files you created.

3) "File / Save Portfolio As..." and give it a filename. Now you have a portfolio file with the investments you previously created.
Thanks,
Mark

That is probably what happened, the Save Portfolio on Exit option was not checked and I was not paying attention when I closed the program.

Thanks for the tip on selecting all the Investments at once - that did not occur to me.
